SEBI Serves Notice On Chanda Kochhar in Videocon Case

New Delhi: Security and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) served a notice to ICICI Bank MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar in connection with the bank’s dealings with Nupower, a company run by her husband, Deepak Kochhar, and the Videocon group.

The regulator has asked ChandaKochhar to respond to matters “relating to alleged non-compliance with certain provisions of the erstwhile listing agreement and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015," ICICI Bank said in a filing with BSE. An appropriate response would be submitted to Sebi, the bank said in the same filing.

Home Ministry Constitutes A New Department to Look Into Security Issues of Women

New Delhi: The Home Ministry has created a new division to address issues related to security of women comprehensively. The ministry said that the division would deal with all aspects of women safety in coordination with the relevant ministries, departments and the state governments amid rising concerns over women safety,

The new division will deal with subjects like crimes against women, SCs & STs, crimes against children, elderly persons, anti-trafficking cell, matters relating to prison legislation and prison reforms, all schemes under NIRBHAYA fund, Crime and Criminal Tracking & Network System (CCTNS) and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Left Front’s Call For A Unity To Dislodge The BJP Government In 2019

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on May 24 called upon all secular and democratic forces to join hands to dislodge the BJP government in the 2019 LokSabha election.

"In West Bengal, 'ModiHatao, DeshBachao, (Defeat Modi, Save Country) and TMC Hatao, Bengal Bachao' will remain our stand," CPI(M)General Secretary SitaramYechury said in Kolkata on Thursday.

"When the elections will near "appropriate electoral tactics will be adopted with the objective of maximising pooling of anti-BJP votes," Yechury told a press meet. "We will ask all secular, democratic forces to ensure the BJP government is defeated whenever the general election takes place," he said.

UP To Get Rs 1200 Crore For Organising Ardh Kumbh In Allahabad in 2019

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government will get Rs 1200 crore from the Centre to host ArdhKumbh the event at the confluence Ganga and Yamuna rivers in Allahabad. The government plans to turn the next ‘ArdhKumbh’ in Allahabad, slated to be held in January 2019, into a big tourism event to attract visitors from abroad and has sanctioned Rs 1,200 crore to the Uttar Pradesh government for hosting the mega event.

State health minister and MLA from Allahabad West constituency, SiddharthNath Singh, said on Thursday that while the Yogi Adityanath government in UP was in talks with NitiAayog on the issue, the finance ministry had in December 2017 turned down the proposal to extend central funds for ‘Ardh-Kumbh’ that takes place six years after the ‘PurnaKumbh’ held every 12 years on the grounds states have been getting more funds following higher devolution of funds since the 14th Finance Commission’s recommendations were implemented. But the Centre has finally agreed on it, Singh said.

CBI Sleuth Probing PNB Scam Sent Back To Cadre In The Middle Of Investigation

New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation joint director Rajiv Singh has been prematurely repatriated with “immediate effect” to his parent cadre of Tripura. He was supervising the probe into Rs 13,578 crore Punjab National Bank scam involving NiravModi and others.

Joint director Nina Singh, who was heading special crimes zone in CBI, has also been sent back to her parent cadre of Rajasthan. Other than Rajiv Singh, two other CBI officers from the Tripura cadre — R Gopal Krishna Rao (SP) and DIG Anish Prasad — have also been repatriated to the state.

The move comes a week after CBI filed two chargesheets against NiravModi, MehulChoski and top PNB officials, including former MD-CEO UshaAnanthasubramanian, in the scam and there are plans to issue a red corner notice against Modi and his family members.
