New Delhi: Senior Karnataka Congress leader K B Koliwad accused some of his own party leaders of ‘tormenting’ Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. The CM had said that he was "not happy" being in the top post and was swallowing the pain like 'Vishakantha' (Lord Shiva), who drank poison.

"There are some Congress leaders who are tormenting him. I won't disclose the names. Those who are not able to digest the (Congress-JDS) coalition government are simmering from inside and are giving trouble to Kumaraswamy," said former Assembly speaker Koliwad, while reacting to Kumaraswamy's emotional breakdown.

Union Human Resource development minister PrakashJavadekar said that there was a programmeorganised on Ramayana in Kerala but the official programme was cancelled that shows its mindset of being the party of only Muslims. "The only genocide that took place after independence in India in which over 3000 Sikhs were burnt alive was actually executed by the Congress," said Javadekar.

Terming the prime minister a “peddler of untruths”, the Congress also challenged him to discuss his allegations against the opposition party in Parliament during the Monsoon Session beginning July 18.Modi during his speech in Azamgarh on Saturday had come down heavily on the Congress over its stand on triple talaq, asking if it was a party for Muslim men alone.

“The prime minister has continuously hurt the dignity of his office. We strictly oppose what he said yesterday. It shows his sick mentality and twisted mindset,” senior Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said.

New Delhi:The BharatiyaJanata Party on Sunday questioned Congress president Rahul Gandhi's silence over his reported remarks that the Congress is a Muslim party, saying it has no place for Muslim women. The BJP also hit back at the Congress for alleging that Prime Minister NarendraModi has a ‘sick’ mentality after he accused the opposition party of standing only for Muslim men.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The shameful allegations made by the Congress leader against the prime minister only showed their desperation."He said that Gandhi has not yet given his party's support to the government's initiatives on instant triple talaq, despite the Supreme Court banning the practice. Taking on the Gandhi scion over his reported remarks in an Urdu daily that the Congress is a Muslims party, Prasad said he is now "patronising" the minority community.

Dy CM Of Karnataka Attempts Damage Control On Kumaras wamy’s Outburst

New Delhi:A day after Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy broke down while saying he was unhappy heading the state’s Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress coalition government, deputy chief minister of the state Karnataka G Parameshwara attempted damage control.

Kumaraswamy said his party workers were happy while he was not. “You are happy that your brother has become the chief minister, but I am not happy. The pain that I have within me, I have it like Vishakantha (a reference to Lord Shiva drinking poison). I did not become the chief minister to flaunt the title, but to fulfill the unfinished agenda of my father,” he said at a JD(S) felicitation programme.
