Government Explores All-Possible Option To Bring Back Choksi From Antigua

New Delhi: The government of India is looking at more than one options to bring back Mehul Choksi, co-accused in the Rs 13,600-crore Punjab National Bank loan fraud, from Antigua and Barbuda. However both are reasonably long-drawn judicial processes.

A team of Indian officials, led by additional secretary in the external affairs ministry Manpreet Vohra, recently held discussions with the authorities of the Caribbean nation, apprising them about the ‘severity’ of the charges against Choski.

Delhi Government Moves To Court Against Leaking Content To Media By Police On Assault Of Anshu Prakash

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Dy chief minister Manish Sisodia have moved a court urging it to restrain the Delhi police from “leaking contents of the charge sheet” against them in connection with the alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash to the media.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Samar Vishal took the application, moved by Kejriwal, deputy CM Manish Sisodia and 11 AAP MLAs, on record and sought a response form the Delhi police on it by August 25.

Applicants Whose Claims And Objections Are Rejected Will Not Face Any Penalty: NRC Officials

New Delhi: Officials involved with the National Register of Citizens (NRC) updating exercise in Assam assured that applicants whose claims and objections are rejected will not face any penalty.

Over 40 lakh of the 3.29 crore applicants had found their names missing from the complete draft of the register, that seeks to prove citizenship and weed out illegal immigrants, released on July 30.

Those left out can file claims to be included. Anyone can file objections against inclusion on ineligible applicants in the complete draft. Corrections of names, age and other details would also take place simultaneously.

Railways To Recruit About 10,000 RPF personnel To Ensuring safety of women passengers

New Delhi: The railways have initiated the process for recruiting about 10,000 RPF personnel in a major decision towards ensuring the safety of women passengers. Union railway minister Piyush Goyal announced reserving 50 per cent seats for women Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel recruitment.

Goyal laid the foundation stones for, and inaugurated, various railway facilities at different functions held in Patna and Ara on Sunday. The minister also announced that all 6,000 railway stations across the country and important trains will soon be brought under the surveillance of the close circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

NIA Arrests Two Persons In Hyderabad For Their Alleged Connections With Islamic State

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested two persons in Hyderabad for their alleged connections with the Islamic State. They were identified as Mohammad Abdullah Basith (24), son of Mohammad Abdul Arif of Hafeez Baba Nagar and Mohammad Abdul Qadeer (19), son of Abdul Quddus of Chandrayangutta, both in the old city of Hyderabad, a NIA release said.

The arrests followed a series of raids conducted by NIA sleuths at seven places on August 6 and subsequent interrogation of several suspects in the last one week. “A lot of incriminating material was seized from the accused and has been sent to Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad for analysis and data extraction,” the release said.
