New Delhi: In a veiled attack to the central government, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called upon people of the country to reflect on how to work together and contribute in arresting “disturbing trends” of intolerance, communal polarisation and incidents of crimes propelled by hate groups and mobs being witnessed in the country.

Addressing the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award function, he said such “unsavoury” trends can only harm national interests and are an anathema to the promotion of peace and communal harmony.

Anil Ambani Writes To Rahul Gandhi On Rafale Saying That His Party Has Been Misinformed

New Delhi: Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani has written a letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi on the Rafale fighter jet deal saying his party has been “misinformed, misdirected and misled” by “malicious vested interests and corporate rivals” on the issue.

Ambani, who had first written to Gandhi on the issue in December, last week again wrote to him saying not a single component worth a single rupee is to be manufactured by his group for the 36 Rafale jets India is buying from France, the company said in a statement in New Delhi.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party took on Congress party Rahul Gandhi over the revocation of suspension from his party of Mani Shankar Aiyar, who had used objectionable language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP said that it exposed the Congress chief and his “love for a person of many controversies”.

Aiyar was suspended from the primary membership of the Congress on December 7 last year for his “neech aadmi” remarks against Modi on the eve of the Gujarat Assembly polls.

Congress-Led UPA I and II Governments Delivered Highest Decadal Growth Since Independence: Chidambaram

New Delhi: Former finance minister P Chidambaram took a dig at the current dispensation saying not one but “three finance ministers” were handling the economy and further claimed that the Congress-led UPA I and II governments delivered highest decadal growth since Independence.

The average growth rate under the UPA-1 government was 8.87 per cent, during which it also clocked double digit growth of 10.08 per cent in 2006-07, while under UPA-2 it was 7.39 per cent, he said, citing gross domestic product (GDP) data released by the statistics ministry.

ED To Appeal Against PMLA Tribunal Recent Order To Release A ‘Miniscule’ Amount Of Vijay Mallya’s Assets

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday said it will appeal against a recent order of a PMLA tribunal, asking the agency to release a “miniscule” amount of assets it had attached in connection with a multi-crore-rupee bank loan fraud probe related to the Kingfisher Airlines and its promoter Vijay Mallya.

The appellate tribunal to hear cases filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) recently set aside the ED orders to attach two flats in Kingfisher Towers in Bengaluru, reportedly stating that they were “not linked” to the alleged money laundering and banking fraud.
