New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a substantial increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi and Accredited social health activists (Asha) workers from October in a move that is expected to help millions of women from relatively poor households

All Asha workers will also get free coverage under the two flagship insurance schemes of the government, Modi announced during a video interaction with Asha, ANM (auxiliary nurse midwife) and Anganwadi workers from across the country.

BJP, Congress Train Their Guns At Each Other On The Basis Of Rajan’s Statement

New Delhi: The BJP trained its guns on the Congress on the basis of Rajan’s statement that most bad loans originated between 2006 and 2008 while the Congress on the BJP because Rajan said he set up a fraud monitoring cell and sent a list of high-risk offenders to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) but nothing much came of this. Rajan doesn’t mention when he sent the list to the PMO, although the fraud monitoring cell was set up in 2016.

CBI Starts Extradition Process Of Brother Of Fugitive Diamond Trader Nirav Modi

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started extradition process of Neeshal Modi, the brother of fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi. He is the alleged mastermind of the $2billion banking fraud in Punjab National Bank.

The CBI has moved the extradition request of Neeshal Modi to the Union home ministry on Friday, they said. The home ministry will send it to Belgium, where Neeshal Modi is believed to be holding up, through the external affairs ministry, they said.

Congress Attacks State Government, Centre For Release Of Rajiv Gandhi’s Assassins

New Delhi: The Congress attacked not just the state government but the centre also for, what it called, was an attempt to set the terrorists free. Tamil Nadu’s AIADMK government recommended release of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins.

“Unfortunately, the BJP is looking at terrorism too from a partisan perspective,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala at a media briefing on Monday. He claimed that the AIADMK was the BJP’s ally in Tamil Nadu and was acting in coordination with the BJP at the centre.

HC Dismisses Petitions By Rahul, Sonia Challenging IT Assessment in National Herald case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court said that Income Tax department had the powers reopening of tax assessment proceedings for the year 2011-12 dismissing petitions by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and former party president Sonia Gandhi challenging to do so in connection with the National Herald case. A plea by Congress leader Oscar Fernandes has been dismissed.

A bench of justices S Ravindra Bhat and AK Chawla said the petitioners could raise the issue with the tax department. Sonia Gandhi and Fernandes are shareholders in Young Indian, and the tax department claims they did not disclose their income from the company. Similarly, the tax department’s claim is that Rahul Gandhi withheld information of his directorship of Young Indian, which would have resulted in him having an income of Rs 154 crore and not about Rs 68 lakh, as was assessed for the year in question.
