New Delhi: The Goa Congress told Governor Mridula Sinha on Tuesday evening that a special session of the state assembly should be convened and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to be asked to take a floor test, The Congress’s move comes amidst concerns over the health of 62-year-old Parrikar, who had been flown to Delhi’s AIIMS on Saturday, for treatment.

Emerging from Raj Bhavan at Dona Paula, Leader of Opposition in the assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar told reporters that the Governor had sought four-five days to get back to them. “The manner in which they (ruling coalition) are handling the leadership issue and the bickering … she should call a special one-day session,” Kavlekar said. Congress leaders think the party has a real chance to get the numbers to push its vote of no-confidence against the Parrikar government at such a session.

New Delhi: A study showed that sitting MLAs across the country have an average annual income of Rs 24.59 lakh, with those from Karnataka topping the charts with an average of over Rs 1 crore per annum.

On the other hand, Chhattisgarh MLAs earn the lowest with their average annual income coming at Rs 5.4 lakh, as per the latest report of the Association for Democratic Reforms and the National Election Watch.

New Delhi: A court in United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the extradition of an alleged middleman in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper deal to India. A British national, is wanted in India for allegedly organising bribes in exchange for a 2007 contract for VVIP helicopters for the purchase of 12 luxury helicopters for use by top leaders, including the President, Prime Minister and former prime ministers. He was detailed in UAE this June and was later granted bail.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has written to Facebook, Cambridge Analytica and Global Science Research in connection with the illegal personal data harvesting of Indians from the social networking platform.

In the letters sent to the companies, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought the details of data collection exercise adapted by them, they said.
