Shivraj Singh Chouhan Faces Tough Time In State Elections on SC/ST Act

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appeared to appease both as he is in a cleft stick over the amended Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The upper caste and SC and ST have two opposite stands on the amendment.

Upper caste groups have protested against the amendment to overturn a March 2018 Supreme Court judgment that made an inquiry mandatory before booking any person under the law. The SC had called “arbitrary” the law that provided for automatic registration of a case once a complaint was lodged.

Civil Aviation Ministry To Launch Biometric Pass To Keep Track On Crew Members

New Delhi: The ministry of civil aviation will be launching a biometric pass system in 2019 to keep track of the movement of crew members, security personnel, airline staff and ground handling agents at airports,

According to a government official, some airports have already started installing biometric card readers. At present, airport staff carry plastic ID cards, called airport entry passes, for accessing restricted areas based on alphabetical codes. According to the Bureau for Civil Aviation Security, the new biometric passes will be “foolproof” and harder to replicate. This will create a mechanism for monitoring the movement of personnel at airports.

Milind Naik And Nilesh Cabral Replace Two Ailing Ministers In Parrikar Cabinet

New Delhi: A minor reshuffle took place in Goa when governor Mridula Sinha inducted two BJP legislators — Milind Naik and Nilesh Cabral — in Manohar Parrikar cabinet during a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. They have replaced ailing ministers Francis D’Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar.

D’Souza was the minister of urban development and law, while Madkaikar was the minister of power and social welfare. Nilesh Cabral, a BJP lawmaker from South Goa district’s Curchorem seat located in the heart of the mining belt and has been championing the cause of resumption of mining, while Milind Naik represents the district’s Mormugao seat.

Relatives Of Students Killed In West Bengal Demand CBI Inquiry Into the Incident

New Delhi: Tension continues in Islampur in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal even three days after two students died in firing by unidentified persons. Relatives of victims refused to cremate their bodies until the state government ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The bodies of Rajesh Sarkar, 19, and Tapas Barman, 21, were buried at a local ground after being handed over to the families on Saturday. Family members said they did not cremate them because they wanted to preserve the bodies for the CBI to investigate properly how they died in the firing.
