New Delhi: A video emerging on the day Congress president Rahul Gandhi is in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh to campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections, Controversy erupted after the video went viral in which senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh is heard saying that his party’s votes get reduced if he campaigns for it.

Significantly, Singh, the two-time former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, has been conspicuous by his absence in the programmes and rallies which Gandhi has been addressing in the state over the last few weeks.

New Delhi: The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have protested Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement of changing the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj. But it has received mixed response from intellectuals, teachers, literary persons, lawyers and politicians in the city of holly confluence.

While the Congress has said that the change would diminish the importance that Allahabad had in the country’s freedom movement and does not make sense, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Adityanath government’s proposed move was another example of its trait for “renaming”.

New Delhi: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani’s two-day visit to Lucknow was dominated by the issue of the exodus of north Indians from his state following the alleged rape of a 14-month-old girl last month. However, the Gujarat CM accused the Congress of fomenting trouble in the state which is likely to trigger a fresh war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition parties.

The Gujarat chief minister was in Lucknow to invite his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for the unveiling of the 182-metre high Statue of Unity at Sardar Sarovar Dam by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.

New Delhi: Karan Jani, an expat scientist from Gujarat’s Vadodara district, has tweeted that he and his friends were denied entry into a “garba” dance event in Atlanta in the US after organisers allegedly said that their last names and look weren’t “Hindu”.

Karan Jani (29), hailing from Vadodara, is an astrophysicist in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), a large-scale physics experiment and observatory operated by Caltech and MIT to detect cosmic gravitational waves.
