New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not speaking up when ruling party lawmakers and ministers are involved in crimes against women. Rahul waded into the controversy over allegations of sexual harassment against Union minister MJ Akbar and attacked the PM.

“Modiji says ‘beti padhao, beti bachao’ but it so happens that when a complaint against his minister comes, he keeps quiet,” Rahul Gandhi said at a public meeting in Morena district’s Joura area.

New Delhi: The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have protested Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement of changing the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj. But it has received mixed response from intellectuals, teachers, literary persons, lawyers and politicians in the city of holly confluence.

While the Congress has said that the change would diminish the importance that Allahabad had in the country’s freedom movement and does not make sense, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Adityanath government’s proposed move was another example of its trait for “renaming”.

New Delhi: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani’s two-day visit to Lucknow was dominated by the issue of the exodus of north Indians from his state following the alleged rape of a 14-month-old girl last month. However, the Gujarat CM accused the Congress of fomenting trouble in the state which is likely to trigger a fresh war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition parties.

New Delhi: Karan Jani, an expat scientist from Gujarat’s Vadodara district, has tweeted that he and his friends were denied entry into a “garba” dance event in Atlanta in the US after organisers allegedly said that their last names and look weren’t “Hindu”.

Karan Jani (29), hailing from Vadodara, is an astrophysicist in the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), a large-scale physics experiment and observatory operated by Caltech and MIT to detect cosmic gravitational waves.
