Congress, BJP Trying To Get Feedback From The Party Workers To Select Candidates

New Delhi: The leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are taking feedback from party workers to maintain “transparency and inclusivity” in the selection process but in different ways. These leaders have been given the task of finalising candidates for the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.

In Rajasthan, BJP leaders are camping in the Jain temple town of Ranakpur in Pali district, gathering responses from former workers, elected representatives and office-bearers on possible candidates, party leaders familiar with the matter said. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP leaders have been assigned districts, so that they can get names of prospective candidates from functionaries at different levels, state party leaders said.

Land Acquisition Process For Jewar International Airport Likely To Begin By October End

New Delhi: For the second airport in the National Capital region, the land acquisition process for Jewar international airport is likely to begin at this month end for early November with the administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar submitting the final proposal to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s office.

The state government is expected to start acquiring land by end of October or beginning of November, an administration official said.

Rape Accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal Gets Hero’s Welcome On Getting Bail

New Delhi: Accused of raping a nun, Roman Catholic bishop Franco Mulakkal received a rousing welcome from his supporters when he reached Jalandhar after being released on bail by a Kerala court. Mulakkal smiled as followers showered rose petals on him. Till a few weeks ago, he held charge as the bishop of the Jalandhar diocese.

The bishop, who was escorted by Punjab police personnel, did not talk to the media. He was granted conditional bail by the Kerala High Court on Monday, and released from a jail near Kottayam a day later.

Amit Shah Says, Mizoram To Celebrate Christmas Under The BJP Government

New Delhi: Now the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is targeting a Christian dominated state-Mizoran when its president Amit Shah said that Mizoram would celebrate Christmas under a BJP government.

Kicking off the party’s campaign at Aizawl’s R Dengthuama Indoor Stadium, Shah said in an address to booth-level BJP workers in the state, “Seeing all the workers in this packed hall, I am confident that the next government will be of the BJP. After the counting of votes in Mizoram, it will be the 20th state government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.” Shah added that seven out of eight states in the Northeast already have a North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) government led by the BJP.

India To Suffer The Most If International Trade Declines As US Embarks On Protectionism

New Delhi: Union commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu said that India would be the worst sufferer if international trade declines as the US ratchets up tariff war and embarks on protectionism.

“India is the worst sufferer if the world trade does not grow, because we have a huge stake, our share in global trade is increasing,” Prabhu said at an industry-body event in New Delhi. “We are at a stage where more global growth will come from more production within the country,” he said.
