Congress Fields AB Vajpayee’s Niece Karuna Shukla Against Raman Singh From Rajnandgaon

New Delhi: In a suave move by the Congress when it fielded former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece Karuna Shukla against chief minister Raman Singh in the Rajnandgaon Assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh. This will hot up the electoral battle in the state.

In the second list released by the party for the first phase of Chhattisgarh assembly election, the party declared its candidates for the remaining six constituencies. It earlier declared candidates for 12 seats. The first phase of polling for the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly will be held on November 12 and the last date for filing of nominations is October 23.

Shukla was a member of 14th Lok Sabha from Janjir constituency. In 2009, she contested against Congress leader Charandas Mahant from Korba constituency and lost. Subsequently, she was sidelined by the BJP after which she joined the Congress in 2014.

UP Legislative Council Chairman’s Wife Alleges Her Confession Made Under Police Pressure

New Delhi: UP Legislative Council chairman Ramesh Yadav’s wife Meera alleged that her confession was made under “police pressure”. She was arrested after reportedly admitting to murdering her son Abhijit Yadav. Appearing before chief judicial magistrate Anand Prakash Singh, she denied any involvement in her son’s murder. The court sent her to 14 days judicial custody.

After coming out of the court, Meera claimed that she had earlier given a confession statement under pressure from the police. “There is a big conspiracy in Abhijit’s murder,” she alleged.

Police arrested her early on Monday morning for allegedly murdering Abhijit (22) after a late night argument on Saturday. According to police, preliminary investigation has revealed that alleged physical and mental harassment by Abhijit led forced Meera to kill him.

Senior Congress Leaders Fail To Turn Up To Pay Homage To ND Tiwari

New Delhi: Congress leaders have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party for appropriating its legacy as top leaders of Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other parties were present to pay homage to the mortal remains of former chief minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari but senior Congress leaders were largely absent from the final journey of the veteran politician who was the last from the party to rule the crucial state.

A three-time UP chief minister, Tiwari’s body, escorted from Delhi to Lucknow by deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, was received at the airport Saturday by chief minister Yogi Adityanath and the BJP top brass along with those of Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) with Congress representation largely left to state leaders Ammar Rizvi, Pramod Tiwari and Sanjay Sinh.

Congress Not To Defend Or Protect Anyone Accused of Sexual Harassment

New Delhi: The Congress has refused to defend or protect anybody and the law should take its due course after a case has been registered against former Kerala chief minister Oomen Chandy and Congress MP K C Venugopal. The complain of sexual misconduct has been filed by Solar scam accused Saritha S Nair.

Congress spokesperson and Mahila Congress chief Sushmita Dev said an FIR has been filed and the women have every right to file it and the police has every right to investigate.

“The law must take its due course. We are not here to defend or protect anybody against whom there is an allegation. She has every right to file an FIR. Police has every right to investigate. It does not matter whether it is Oomen Chandy or anybody else,” she told reporters here when asked about the charges against Chandy.
