After Trinamool Congress and Congress, members from Samajwadi Party, CPM, CPI, Shiv Sena, NCP and IUML have separately submitted notices for privilege against nominated Rajya Sabha member and former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, in the Upper House.
Ranjan Gogoi has been under opposition attack for his remarks during a TV interview. When asked about attending the sessions, Gogoi had said: “I go to the Rajya Sabha when I feel like, when I think there are matters of importance on which I can speak. And I am a nominated member, I am not governed by any party whip, whenever the bell rings for the party members … that does not bind me. I go there by my choice and I come out at my choice. I am an independent member of the House.”
