New Delhi: Leaving his family and party workers stunned, former Bihar health minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, has filed a petition seeking divorce from his wife of six months Aishwarya Rai.

Tej Pratap had married Aishwarya, daughter of senior RJD leader and former minister Chandrika Rai, on May 12 in Patna. Her grandfather Daroga Rai was chief minister of Bihar in the 1960s.

The divorce petition filed in a court in Patna, has been listed for hearing on November 29. The reason why Tej Pratap has sought divorce is still unclear. Even family members claimed ignorance. “I am totally ignorant

New Delhi: Initial findings of a study by the civil aviation ministry has revealed that at least 20 cities in India will need a second airport by 2030. Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Pune, Ahmadabad, Rajkot, Patna, Kolkata and Bangalore are among cities that will need a second airport by 2030. By 2035, more cities will join this list. The study is still work-in-progress and will also calculate by when each airport will reach its capacity.

Once it is completed, the ministry will write to respective state governments, sharing the information and asking them to identify land for a new airport at least five years before the airport reaches its capacity.

India’s airports currently handle 183.90 million passengers a year, according to the 2017-18 data released by aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The number has grown in recent years. It was 158.43 million in 2016-17 and 134.98 million in 2015-16.

New Delhi: Jaidev Thackeray, the estranged son of late Shiv Sena leader Bala Saheb Thackeray, in an affidavit filed said he wanted to close his suit opposing probate of the will in favour of Uddhav Thackeray and four other family members. He did not assign any reason for withdrawing his suit.

Jaidev Thackeray his suit filed in the Bombay High Court challenging the will of his late father Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Jaidev had challenged the will of December 13, 2011, in which the Sena patriarch had not left a farthing for his estranged son. The suit was filed after Bal Thackeray’s death in November 2012.

New Delhi: Janata Dal (United) has dismissed claim made by Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president Upendra Kushwaha that Nitish Kumar had confided in him about relinquishing the chief minister’s chair after 2020 Assembly elections. The ruling party said that he would remain in the post as the state still “needs him”.

JD (U) leaders said Kumar was chief minister by people’s choice and the state needs his services for a longer duration. “The CM’s chair is no sweetmeat,” JD (U) spokesperson Ajay Alok said. “Nitish Kumar was chosen by virtue of people’s mandate and he is successfully continuing on the chair because he has been delivering and living up to people’s expectations.”
