The nationwide alert over Omicron and the approaching holiday season has left multiple states and Union territories, reporting a particularly recent surge in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, concerned over the appropriate measures that need to be taken in order to cut the spread of the virus. The case positivity rate in national capital Delhi has once again started to rise and in view of this, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will be conducting an important review meeting on Thursday to assess the preparedness and management of the highly infectious new variant of the SARS-CoV-2 variant, which is said to be capable of undergoing frequent mutations.

Delhi on Wednesday recorded as many as 125 new Covid-19 cases in the span of the past 24 hours, the highest single-day increase since June 22, a time when the city was reeling under the repercussions of the second wave of the pandemic. The current case positivity rate in Delhi stands at 0.20 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. There have, however, been zero deaths due to the viral infection in this while, data showed.

Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien was suspended from Rajya Sabha on Tuesday for the remaining Winter Session of the Parliament for 'unruly behaviour' in the House. The TMC MP was suspended after he allegedly threw the Rajya Sabha Rule Book towards the Chair during the discussion on Election Laws (Amendment Bill) 2021 on December 21.

This is not the first time Derek O'Brien has been suspended from the Upper House. The TMC leader was suspended for creating chaos in the House during the passing of the controversial farm laws that were repealed after months-long farmers' protests.

Shiv Sena on Tuesday slammed the BJP over the issue of vandalisation of the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji and freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna in Bengaluru. The party said that the BJP resorts to double standards, as it demands vote on the name of  Chhatrapati Shivaji in elections, but stays silent on the issue of "insult" to Shivaji Maharaj.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also attacked the BJP, that currently rules the state of Karnataka, to act against the pro-Marathi outfit Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti.

The prolonged legal battle among members of the Jaipur royal family over the Jai Mahal Palace Hotel and Rambagh Palace Hotel has finally come to an end after court-appointed mediator Justice (retd) Kurian Joseph brokered an amicable settlement.

According to the settlement, Devraj Singh and his sister Lalitya Kumari, the grandchildren of Maharani Gayatri Devi, will get back the heritage property, Jai Mahal Palace Hotel, from their step uncles while they will forfeit their stake in Rambagh Palace in favour of their uncles, the Times of India reported.
