The ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M) has demoted two party members for allegedly colluding with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in a Kerala municipality.
A local committee secretary and an area committee member have been demoted as part of disciplinary action. Recently, a BJP leader and an SDPI state secretary were killed within hours, triggering political unrest in the state.
The disciplinary action is being taken against them for reportedly bringing a no-confidence motion in Erattupetta municipality against the Congress rule. However, the no-confidence motion would have been accepted only if they had got the support of SDPI members. This raised questions on the credibility of the state government investigation into the political murders in Alappuzha.
