Delhi orders to close all private offices, except essential services

in DNDQuick

All private offices in Delhi will be closed except those under exempted category in view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said in its revised guidelines on January 11.

This comes a day after the DDMA, which formulates COVID-19 management policies for the national capital, suspended the dine-in facility at restaurants and closed bars in view of the rising coronavirus infection in the city. It was also decided to allow operation of only one weekly market per day per zone, as per Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

As the authority asks private offices to shut down except those exempted under new COVID-19 safety guidelines, take a look at private offices that will remain open:

No plan to impose lockdown-like restrictions for now, situation under control, says Assam CM

in DNDQuick

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday hinted that the state government will take stringent measures to curb Covid-19 spread if the situation in the state deteriorates.

The chief minister, however, added that Covid-19 cases in the state are rising, but the overall situation in the state is under control and the state government has no plan to impose lockdown-like restrictions as of now.

"I think Assam will see 12,000-14,000 Covid-19 cases per day in this wave, which will be double compared to last year's highest number of cases. We hope that the third wave will be over in the next 45 days. As of now, the Covid-19 situation in the state is under control, but we don't know what will happen tomorrow. Earlier, the Covid-19 situation in Delhi was similar to Assam, but when detection of Covid-19 cases has been increasing, they are imposing stringent restrictions. We are not going at that stage, because our hospitalisation rate is still low. When the occupancy of hospital beds will increase and other problems arise, we will have to take stringent measures," CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
