The single-member commission of retired Bombay High Court Judge Justice Kailas Uttamchand Chandiwal, conducting a judicial enquiry into the allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against then State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, is likely to hold its final hearing on Friday.

The commission also indicated during the hearing on Thursday that it would submit its report to the Maharashtra government by February 2022.

The Commission was constituted by the state government in March 2021.

As of January 20, Justice Chandiwal had examined all witnesses, including dismissed Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze, Anil Deshmukh, his associates, Sanjeev Palande, and Kundan Shinde.

Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold simultaneous meetings at each of 579 mandals in the state on Thursday that will be attended by local party workers under the guidance of senior leaders.

A party release said that more than 40,000 party workers will participate in the meetings where discussions will be held to complete the page committees wherever it is not done yet.
