Gurugram: Residents of NBCC Green View Told to Vacate Building in 15 Days, Life Savings Gone, Dreams Shattered

in DNDQuick

RP Mehrotra, former executive director at Engineers India Limited, spent Rs 1.38 crore in 2018 to move into his four-bedroom flat at the NBCC Green View group housing project in Gurugram’s Sector 37D after his retirement. But his dream to spend his retired life in his cherished home with his family turned into a nightmare soon.

The Gurugram administration this week directed the residents of NBCC Green View to vacate the building by March 1 as it is unsafe to live in. A helpless Mehrotra said, “I have invested all my savings in that house to stay after retirement. But I don’t have the courage to stay there and risk my life.” There are hundreds like Mehrotra, especially retired officials, who spent crores to buy a flat in NBCC Green View in Gurugram but now have virtually nowhere to go.

in DNDQuick

A powerful RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from a flat in northeast Delhi's Seemapuri on Wednesday afternoon in the aftermath of a raid conducted by the Delhi Police's special cell, who were in pursuit of suspects involved in planting an IED at the flower market in east Delhi's Ghazipur on January 14.

A major terror strike was averted as the IED contained around 2.2kg RDX and was packed in a rectangular iron casing weighing around 800 grams. Like the IED in Ghazipur, this also had an ABCD switch and a programmable timer, an ISI speciality. The bomb was later destroyed by the National Security Guard (NSG) explosive squad in a controlled explosion.
