Robert Vadra gets protection from arrest till Feb 8 in money laundering case

The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday extended the interim protection from arrest to businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader priyanka Vadra, till February 8 in an alleged money laundering case related to land scam in Bikaner.

An application by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was scheduled to be heard in the high court, where the ED has sought the custodial interrogation of Vadra, but the court could not take up the case for hearing due to the paucity of time.

Chief justice of Rajasthan High Court Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati has fixed February 8 as the next date of hearing in the case and granted Vadra and his mother interim protection from arrest till then.

Central Govt orchestrated violence in Delhi’s tractor rally: Digvijaya Singh

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Raya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday accused the Central government of creating violence during farmers' tractor rally on Republic day in Delhi.

Talking to media persons in Ujjain on Wednesday, Singh particularly blamed Union home minister Amit Shah for the violence. “The violence in the tractor rally of farmers in Delhi was sponsored by home minister Amit Shah. The protestors were not Khalistanis and Pakistanis, they were government officials selected by Amit Shah.”

“One of the accused was found to be close to BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Sunny Deol and has pictures with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was a sponsored programme of the Central government to derail the farmers’ protest in Delhi,” said Singh.

Kerala High Court issues notice to Virat Kohli, others over online rummy

Acting on a petition seeking a ban on online rummy, the Kerala High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and actors Thammanna and Aju Vargheese. This is after victims alleged that brand ambassadors play a significant role in getting youth addicted.

Notices have been issued to Kohli, Thamanna and Varghese as they are the brand ambassadors of online rummy. The high court has also issued a notice to the state government and called for its response on the same.

Complaining to the high court, the petitioner has demanded that the online game should be banned because several people have lost their lives in the country after losing huge amounts of money by playing the game.

Tourism Minister inspects Red Fort after protestors’ raid

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel on January 27 inspected the Red Fort, where the protestors entered and hoisted the flag during farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day. He said that a report be made on the incident at the earliest and handed over to MHA, and FIR be registered with immediate effect. He said, “I inspected Red Fort with officers of Culture Ministry & Archaeological Survey of India today. I gave 2 directions- report be made at the earliest & handed over to MHA & FIR be registered immediately. Things will be further clarified after report comes.” A team of Delhi Police has also conducted a probe at Red Fort after storming incident. On Republic Day countless numbers of protestors breached the security and entered into Red Fort and hoisted flags. The Tractor Rally was organised by the farmers to protest against Center’s newly enacted farm laws.

Thirty eight Delhi cops conferred police medal at R-Day event

Thirty eight Delhi Police personnel have been awarded the police medal for their services. 17 of these officials have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 3 President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 18 Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day.DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav and his special cell team, comprising Inspectors Prabhat Kumar Pankaj, Pankaj Kumar; Sub-Inspectors Krishan Kumar, Neeraj Kumar Sharma; Head Constable Girdhar Singh Gurjer; and Constable Gurdeep Singh, were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry for bringing under control criminal "Kranti Gang" in the Delhi NCR in 2018.
