Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav accused the ruling BJP of attempting to “steal” the people's mandate after a truck laden with EMVs was intercepted by the party workers in Varanasi on Tuesday. The Varanasi district election officer claimed that the EVMs were being carried for training purposes.

Replying to Yadav's allegations, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya trashed the charges levelled by him and asked him to stop staging a drama before the counting of votes. He said the EC makes proper arrangements for every candidate to keep a watch over the EVMs.

Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Akhilesh also said that exit polls were meant to create a perception that the saffron party would emerge victorious in the Uttar Pradesh election. He also alleged that government officials in Lucknow were directing their subordinates in the districts to slow down the counting of votes and prolong the process till late night where the chances of the BJP candidates winning were slim.

Iran believes a deal on its nuclear programme can be quickly reached if Washington accepts points made by Tehran at talks in Vienna, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday, adding that Russia's contribution to negotiations so far had been constructive.

The talks, which aim to revive a 2015 agreement between Iran and western powers, have become mired in uncertainty following a demand from Russia for a U.S. guarantee that the sanctions that Moscow faces over the Ukraine invasion would not hurt its trade with Iran.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said a deal can be reached in "the shortest time" with U.S. approval of Iran's stance. Iran was still waiting to receive an explanation from "diplomatic channels" on the Russian demand, but the talks should not be affected by any sanctions including those imposed on Russia, Khatibzadeh told a news conference in Tehran.

The Gurgaon authorities have stopped Chintels Paradiso from selling apartments under its seven projects, a month after a building at the housing complex collapsed. An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav on Monday also said that the move "only applies to transactions between the said developer and first-time buyers and not on third party transactions".

In the much-publicized Bulli Bai App case, the Mumbai Cyber Police has produced a 2,000-page charge sheet in the court. The Mumbai Police so far have arrested six accused including a woman in this case. The charge sheet, surprisingly, says that the mastermind behind this app is still at large. All the accused apprehended till now, are charged with the publicity of this app using different social media accounts and posting objectionable photos on it.
