Karnataka government imposes fresh restrictions amid rising COVID-19 cases

Amid the worrying rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Karnataka government on Monday (March 29) announced fresh restrictions on gatherings.

It has barred people from holding protests and rallies in the state. Large gatherings for parties and celebrations will also be not allowed.

Strict action will be taken against those who violate COVID-19 norms such as wearing of masks. The restrictions will be in place for 15 days.

For 15 days from today (March 29) no protests, rallies will be allowed. Number of cases in apartments are increasing, so no parties or celebration allowed from today. There will be no lockdown. Strict action will be taken against people who don't wear mask, the Karnataka government was quoted as saying by a news agency.

Delhi sizzles with severe heat wave, records highest temperature since 1945

The month of March is yet to pass, but before that the capital of the country is already is in a bad condition. In Delhi, the summer has already started showing its colour in such a way that all the previous records have been broken in the month of March. 

The temperature in Delhi crossed 40 degrees on Monday for the first time in 76 years.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a statement saying that for the first time since 1945, Delhi has witnessed such hot weather. According to IMD, on March 29, mercury in Delhi reached 40.1 degree Celsius. Not only this, but hot summer winds have also started in the capital, which usually starts in late April.

The weather agency says that due to strong winds on Tuesday, Delhiites can get some relief from the heat. Notably, for the past one week, mercury was continuously rising. The temperature of Delhi was recorded at the beginning of last week at 30, but since then the mercury was continuously going up.

The war of words between allies -- Shiv Sena and Congress -- in Maharashtra got murkier on Saturday after state Congress chief Nana Patole took a dig at Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut over the latter's suggestion to make Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar the chief of United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Speaking to reporters in Delhi earlier this week, Sanjay Raut had made the suggestion of strengthening UPA by making Sharad Pawar the chief of the alliance.

Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute seek funds worth Rs 100 crore to ramp up Covid vaccine production

Bharat Biotech has written to the central government to seek funds worth Rs 100 crore to ramp up production of the coronavirus vaccine, 'Covaxin'. Sources also confirmed to India Today TV that the Serum Institute of India (SII) has also verbally requested for funds from the government's Covid Suraksha scheme to increase their production.
