BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan slams Kamal Haasan, says MNM chief performs only ‘lip service'

in DNDQuick

The electoral battle in Coimbatore South has turned nasty ahead of the Assembly poll. BJP's national women's wing president Vanathi Srinivasan on Wednesday attacked Kamal Hassan, saying that the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief only performs 'lip service'.
Kamal Hassan is the MNM candidate from the same constituency.

Vanathi Srinivasan's remarks against Kamal Haasan came in response to the MNM calling her a 'thukkada' politician (small politician).

Hitting out at Kamal Haasan, BJP leader Vanathi said, "You can perform lip service in two ways and both fit him well. One is service by lips (meaning just talking) and the other is doing service only for the lips. Can you call me a thukkada politician?"

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wants to drop Pathalgadi cases

in DNDQuick

On March 26, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's office gave his formal approval to a state home department resolution to withdraw all 'Pathalgadi' cases lodged between 2017 and 2018. This decision has triggered both appreciation and apprehension across the state.

Broadly speaking, the issue began as a reaction to the former Jharkhand government amending land laws to easily acquire tribal land. However, it soon spiralled into a violent, exclusionary movement under which tribal villages in three of the state's 24 districts attempted to give themselves supreme governing authority in their own areas, on all matters, from business and education to the operation of government offices and PDS shops. Sources also allege that this movement was egged on by Maoists to put additional pressure on state police forces.
