Assam Exit Poll Results 2021: BJP Could Be Headed For Second Straight Term

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could be headed for a second straight term in power in Assam, according to exit polls on Thursday. The exit polls declared in unison that chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal had an upper hand in the northeastern state that has 126 assembly seats.

2016 results: The BJP won 60 seats, while its alliance bagged 86 in total. The Congress won 26. Others grabbed the remaining 14 seats.

Coronavirus testing numbers suddenly slipping in Delhi NCR

Delhi's daily testing for the deadly coronavirus is slipping badly with the current surge in COVID cases in the national capital.

Getting tested in Delhi has become more difficult than ever before over the past few weeks, with people trying to book slots for themselves but failing later to get an appointment.

In most of the labs, home collection has been stopped with labs complaining of being overbooked and overworked for hours. According to the government data, the testing numbers have drastically fallen down from city testing 85k-90k daily testing numbers at one point to 57k daily testing now.

Karnataka Ministers to Donate One Year's Salary for Covid-19 Relief Work as State Battles Pandemic

Ministers of Karnataka have unanimously decided to contribute their one year’s salary for COVID relief work in the state. “We the ministers in Karnataka have decided to donate one year of our salary for COVID relief work,” state Revenue Minister R Ashoka said here on Thursday.

Ashoka was briefing reporters about Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s meeting with the district officials to review COVID management and enforcement of lockdown. The minister said 230 acres of land across the state have been reserved for cremation purposes and accordingly, the Deputy Commissioners have handed over land to the Tehsildars.

MHA approves Y-category security for Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawalla

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday approved 'Y' category security to Serum Institute of India's CEO Adar Poonawalla. This cover will be provided by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The Union government's decision came after the Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs at Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), Prakash Kumar Singh had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 16 requesting security for Poonawalla.

In his letter, Prakash Singh had stated that Adar Poonawalla has been getting threats from various groups regarding the Covid-19 vaccine supplies.
