Navy Chief Tells PM Modi, "Have Offered Help to All State Administrations in Fighting Covid"

Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday about the initiatives his organisation has taken to help people in fighting COVID-19, and said it has reached out to all state administrations, offering help in terms of hospital beds, transportation and other such matters. Naval hospitals are being opened for use of civilians in various cities, he told Modi, according to a statement. He also said that medical personnel in the Navy have been redeployed at various locations in the country to manage COVID duties, and its personnel are also being provided battle field nursing assistant training for deployment in the pandemic duties. Singh said the Navy is also helping increase oxygen availability in Lakshadweep as well as Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

After the TMC emerged victorious with a massive lead over the BJP, a seemingly infuriated Babul Supriyo on Sunday (May 2) posted a rant on Twitter saying he cannot respect the people's verdict.

Calling Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a cruel lady, the union minister said that the people of Bengal made a historic mistake by choosing TMC over the BJP.

Supriyo, who lost from Tollyganj seat against TMC’s Aroop Biswas, later deleted the post.

2021 Assam Assembly Election Vote Counting Highlights: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is continuing to hold on to its early leads against the Congress-led Grand Alliance. So far, the trends are out for 123 seats – BJP is ahead in 77 and Congress in 47. Exit polls had predicted BJP’s win but the scale of its leads is bigger than expected. In Assam, the contest is the BJP-led NDA and eight-party grand alliance led by the Congress.

Except for two, almost all exit polls had predicted return of the saffron party government for the second consecutive term. If the exit poll numbers hold today, it would be a big blow for the Congress, which was hoping to return to power after five years and that is why it also allied with Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF.

Politics over, now we should fight against Covid: Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena president, chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray while reacting to West Bengal state assembly results said, “Mamata won! Now we should look towards the fight against Covid-19.”

Thackeray said that Mamata, alone, was fighting for the self-respect of ‘Bangalis’. “We should give the entire credit to the 'tigress of Bengal' for the victory. Since from the prime minister to union home minister, the entire union government, state government’s (BJP led) joined hands to defeat Didi. But Mamata won. I applaud her courage and congratulate the people of West Bengal,” said Thackeray in his press release.
