Mucormycosis or black fungus as it is known, which mainly affects those recovering from COVID, has been declared an epidemic in Rajasthan, officials said as per a news agency.

The decision to classify it as an epidemic comes under the Rajasthan Epidemic Act 2020, said a notification issued by the state's Principal Health Secretary Akhil Arora.

He said this was to make sure that there was an integrated and coordinated treatment of black fungus and COVID.
