Chief Justice reaches PM Modi's residence as Committee meets to appoint next CBI Director

The Chief Justice of India NV Ramana has reached Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s house for a meeting of the committee to select the next director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The meeting to be presided over by PM himself and consisting of Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and the chief justice himself will be considering Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from four senior-most batches (1984-87) to be the next CBI chief.

Some of the frontrunners for the post include YC Modi, a 1984-batch IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre and Director General of the National Investigation Agency, Rakesh Asthana, Gujarat cadre Director-General of the Border Security Force, and SS Deswal, Haryana cadre Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, a news channel reported.

MP CM Chouhan asks Sonia Gandhi to take action against Kamal Nath for remarks on pandemic

A war of words broke out between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state Congress president Kamal Nath on Monday following registration of an FIR against the latter for allegedly creating panic over the COVID-19 pandemic through his remarks. Chouhan asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take action against Nath for his Indian variant and other remarks related to the pandemic. On the other hand, Nath said an FIR cannot suppress his voice and asserted he will keep fighting for people and raise issues of public interest.

UP CM takes stock of Covid-19 management in Akhilesh Yadav's Lok Sabha Constituency Azamgarh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who on Monday visited Azamgarh to take stock of Covid-19 management, said he will not discriminate between the voters and non-voters at the time of pandemic. Azamgarh is the Lok Sabha constituency of Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav. This came days after the CM visited SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s home village Saifai in Etawah for the same purpose.

In Azamgarh, the Chief Minister visited Government Girls’ Inter College (GGIC) and reviewed all facilities being provided to Covid-19 patients in the dedicated care centre. Later, he also paid a surprise visit in Bijuara village to review the healthcare facilities available.

Allahabad HC tells Ghaziabad Administration to furnish report of Probe into 'black-marketing' of oxygen

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Ghaziabad district magistrate to furnished the report of the inquiry it conducted into the alleged black-marketing of medical oxygen. The Bench of Justices Sunita Agarwal and Sadhna Rani passed the order hearing a public interest litigation filed by Ghaziabad's Loni MLA Nand Kishor. The MLA had submitted a written complaint regarding the alleged black-marketing of the oxygen to the Ghaziabad SSP on May 1, whose report is yet to be submitted.

The MLA had sought a high-level inquiry into the issue, alleging the diversion of oxygen cylinders from Ghaziabad to Delhi and Haryana on account of corrupt practices of the ADM (City). Pleading for the district administration, Additional Advocate General (AAG) Manish Goyal submitted that a three-member committee comprising the ADM (City), deputy CMO and the joint commissioner (industries) was constituted by the DM for regulating the distribution of oxygen to hospitals for the treatment of Covid patients.

Senior Physician Dr. AP Singh is engaged in the treatment of the patients of Covid-19 by risking his life and following a very difficult routine.

Waking up at 6:30 am every day, he leaves from the house for the treatment of more than 70 admitted patients undergoing treatment in Yashoda Hospital Kaushambi. He takes his breakfasts in the car. Dr Singh visits each patient two times in morning and evening without any miss to get the updates of his patients, he himself goes to each patient wearing a PPE kit and after listening to their problems, write their medicines and other necessary tests and counsels them accordingly. He gives hope to every patient and encourages to keep them patience, faith and confidence that they will recover fully.
