Following allegations of Tamil Nadu's western belt being ignored by the ruling DMK, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin who is touring the region is facing the wrath of angry netizens and political opponents on Twitter. 

The Western belt which is locally known as the 'Kongu Belt' is an AIADMK stronghold and largely voted against the ruling DMK. 

Coimbatore, the second largest city in Tamil Nadu and an industrial hub is situated in the Kongu belt region.

Maharashtra Congress minister says PM Modi`s 7-year rule fatal for country

Maharashtra minister and Congress leader Nitin Raut on Sunday said seven years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s government at the Centre had been "fatal" for the country with people reeling under the burden of broken promises and skyrocketing inflation.

Prices of petrol had crossed Rs 100 per litre while diesel was retailing at Rs 90 per litre, which was affecting common citizens, while farmers who were promised that their incomes would double by 2022 are seeing hike in seed and fertiliser prices, the Nagpur North MLA said.

Addressing a press conference, Raut said the new agri marketing laws as well labour reforms brought in by the Centre were anti-people.

Monsoon onset over Kerala likely by June 3: India Meteorological Department

The monsoon onset over Kerala is likely to take place by June 3, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said while updating its prediction on Sunday.

It had on May 14 predicted it to be around May 31 with model error of +/- 4 days. The normal onset date of the southwest monsoon falls on June 1 with a standard deviation of 7 days.

"As per the latest meteorological indications, the southwesterly winds could strengthen further gradually from June 1, resulting in likely enhancement in rainfall activity over Kerala. Hence, the monsoon onset over Kerala is likely to take place by June 3," said the country's national weather forecaster in its latest update on Sunday.

Uttar Pradesh Reports 1,908 New Covid-19 Cases, Lowest Single-day Count in Last 2 Months

Uttar Pradesh on Sunday reported 1,908 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest single-day number in the last two months. The state has also witnessed a sharp dip in the total number of active coronavirus cases, which is 41,214, since its peak on April 30.

The Covid-19 cases in the state have been reduced by 87 per cent in the span of the last thirty days. In the last 24 hours, 6,713 people have recovered from the infection, pushing the recovery rate to 96.4 per cent.

BJP Chief Nadda Accuses West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee of 'Murder' of Constitutional Ethos
