Haryana CM laud PM Modi's 'Vaccine for All' move, say will battle third Covid wave

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that the central government will provide free coronavirus vaccine to states for inoculation of all above the age of 18 from June 21, and asserted that vaccine supply would be increased significantly in the country in coming days.

After PM Modi’s announcement, various political leaders, including from the Opposition, and experts, welcomed the move.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said: “I welcome PM Modi’s statement indicating that Union Government will procure 75% of the vaccines produced in the country and provide them to the states free of cost.”

Months after Akhilesh Yadav's 'BJP Vaccine' remark, Mulayam Singh gets jabbed

Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday, June 7, received a dose of Covid-19 vaccine at a private hospital in Lucknow.

Samajwadi Party’s official Twitter handle posted a picture of the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister getting the vaccine, however, the post did not clarify whether this was his first dose or second.

Interestingly, Mulayam’s son and current president of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, had earlier declared to not get jabbed, and termed the Covid shot a “BJP vaccine”.

Rajasthan reports over 900 fresh Covid cases, active case tally drops below 20,000-mark

Active coronavirus cases in Rajasthan dropped below the 20,000-mark. With the state reporting 904 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, active caseload in Rajasthan now stands at 18,575.

Of the 904 new cases, Rajasthan's capital Jaipur account for 169 cases.

The state also registered 25 fatalities in the past 24 hours.

In view of the drop in Covid-19 cases, the Ashok Gehlot-led government began the "unlock" process in the state by easing certain restrictions from June 2.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray eases restrictions, 'Follow COVID-protocol to avoid lockdown and knockdown'

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday stressed the need for people to take care of themselves even as the state moves towards unlocking process from Monday, June 7.

In a virtual meeting with leading industrialists Thackeray said, "Neither a lockdown is required nor do we want to get knocked down by the virus. So all health related rules have to be followed."

The Shiv Sena leader claimed that the government was taking a "calculated risk" by relaxing the coronavirus-induced restrictions in the state.

TMC MP Calls Bengal Guv 'Uncle-ji', Says His Kin Appointed as Officer on Special Duty

Addressing West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar as 'uncle-ji', TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Sunday said that his family members and other acquaintances have been appointed as officers on special duty (OSDs) in Raj Bhavan. Taking to Twitter, Moitra shared a list of names — OSD to governor Abbhudoy Singh Sekhawat, OSD-coordination Akhil Chowdhury, OSD-administration Ruchi Dubey, OSD-protocol Prasant Diksit, OSD-IT Koustav S Valikar and newly appointed OSD Kishan Dhankar.

The TMC MP further said that Sekhawat is the son of Dhankhar's brother-in-law, and Ruchi Dubey and Prasant Diksit are respectively wife and brother of his former aide-de-camp (ADC) Major Gorang Diksit. Valikar is the brother-in-law of present ADC Janardan Rao, while Kishan Dhankar is another close relative of the Governor, Moitra alleged.
