Kapil Sharma decided to pull the plug on 'The Kapil Sharma Show'

On Sunday, reports started making the rounds that The Kapil Sharma Show is set to go off air in February this year. However, the reason for the decision was not disclosed earlier. Now, as per a report in The Times of India, multiple reasons have come about for Kapil to pull the plug off his hit show. Alongside, Kapil, The Kapil Sharma Show also stars Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, Bharti Singh, Archana Puran Singh.

Talking about the reason, a source told the portal, "Contrary to reports, there is no revamp plan. Kapil's show has been a favourite with masses because of many reasons. The audience participation was one driving factor for the show. Currently, there is no live audience due to the pandemic. Films too are not releasing and so, Bollywood actors are not coming to the show for any film promotion. So, the makers felt that it would be ideal to take a break right now and return when things get back to normal."

"I don't think a person like me can do anything in politics. So, I don't have that intention at all," he tells IANS.

Incidentally, playback rival of his heydays Babul Supriyo, who was always a lesser luminary in the world of music, did far better in public life. Supriyo not only won for the BJP, he was also a minister in the Cabinet for a while.

Netizens slam Amitabh Bachchan for calling IMF Chief Economst Gita Gopinath a 'beautiful face'

Indian-American economist and Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Gita Gopinath on Friday reacted to a complimentary post by Amitabh Bachchan, saying he was the greatest of all time and that she was a huge fan of the Bollywood superstar. Big B had called Gopinath a beautiful face on his television quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. Gopinath shared a video clip of the moment from show on her verified Twitter account on Friday, where Bachchan can be seen telling a contestant in Hindi while showing Gita's photo on the big screen: "She has such a beautiful face, nobody can relate her with economy."

Reacting to the clip, Gita tweeted: "Ok, I don't think I will ever get over this. As a HUGE fan of Big B @SrBachchan, the Greatest of All Time, this is special!"

Responding to her tweet, Big B wrote: "Thank you Gita Gopinath ji .. I meant every word i said about you on the show .. said in utmost earnestness."

Javed Akhtar Files Defamation Suit Against Kangana Ranaut; Mumbai Police Summons Ranaut

Actor Kangana Ranaut has been summoned by the Mumbai Police in a defamation case filed by the lyricist Javed Akhtar at Andheri Court. She has been asked to appear before Juhu police officers, who are investigating the case, on January 22. On December 19, the court had asked Juhu police to investigate the defamation case filed by Akhtar against Kangana and submit the report to the court. In the last hearing, the cops sought more time from the court in the last hearing. The police have now initiated investigations in the case and therefore, summoned Kangana for questioning.

The sources confirmed that the next hearing is at Andheri Court on February 1, 2021, and the cops will file a report by then.

Kangana reacted to the summon and wrote on Twitter, "Today one more summon for me. Come all hyenas come together...Put me in jail...torture me and push me against the wall with 500 cases."

Bombay HC grants Tandav director Ali Abbas Zafar relief from immediate arrest

Tandav makers approached the Bombay High Court for transit anticipatory bail today. The makers approached the court after the Uttar Pradesh police landed in Mumbai to investigate a case filed against them in Lucknow. An FIR was filed against Tandav makers on January 18 in Lucknow, alleging that the show has hurt religious sentiments.

Today, Tandav director Ali Abbas Zafar approached the single bench of Justice Prakash D Naik just before the closing of the day's hearing. At around 4.30 pm, advocate Abaad Ponda, representing Zafar, sought protection till the time of approaching the appropriate court in Uttar Pradesh.

Ponda also argued that there is no offence that is made out in the case. Also, for the purpose of not creating any further controversy, the content has already been deleted. Ponda sought transit anticipatory bail for eight weeks. However, the court granted him only 3 weeks time.
