New release Jersey couldn’t do much at the box office on the opening day as just around Rs 4 crore came in. Expectations were that the film would take a start of at least Rs 6 crore, considering that Shahid Kapoor was featuring in there, and also it was catering to family audiences. Yes, the film was postponed a couple of times and that did have a role to play in sustaining the buzz and the momentum. This is the reason why if the film would taken at least a double digit start had it opened on 31 December last year, even with drop in traction over the weeks a better start was expected.

Shahid Kapoor's much anticipated sport drama, Jersey, has taken a very slow start at the box office. According to early estimates, the movie has collected Rs. 3.60 to 4.00 crores on its opening day.

The first day business has shocked the entire trade. While no one was expecting Jersey to take a good opening, as the general expectation was in the range of Rs. 5.50 to 6.50 crore, but this is a simply disastrous opening.

The first day business of Jersey has also shut down all prospects for the film, and its mostly curtains down on the opening day itself. The film needs some miracle from hereon to even reach a total of Rs. 40 crores in longer run.

Music maestro Illaiyaraja recently courted controversy for comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the father of the constitution Dr BR Ambedkar. Needless to say, he has been facing a lot of backlash and criticism for his comments.

The comparison was made in the forebode of the book Ambedkar & Modi: Reformers ideas, Performers implementation, published by Bluekraft Digital Foundation. He not only drew parallels between them but also said Ambedkar would be proud of Modi. His support for the BJP supremo did not go down well with many.

Sidharth Malhotra has entered Rohit Shetty's popular cop universe. Albeit this time, it is for a series for Amazon Prime Video. Rohit Shetty who is known for creating a cop universe in Bollywood with films like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi is all set to take the universe into the world of OTT with his upcoming series. On Tuesday, the filmmaker officially announced the series with a still featuring Sidharth in his cop avatar.

In the still, Sidharth can be seen in khakhee with his back facing the camera. The picture also has multiple white Scorpio cars with the police siren as is usually seen in Shetty's cop films. Sharing the poster, he wrote, "Action begins tomorrow at 11:00 AM!"
