Pankaj Tripathi reveals why he rejects south Indian films

Pankaj Tripathi has said that he is not looking for work in languages other than Hindi, neither Hollywood, nor in the south Indian film industry. He has also said that he understands Hindi better, and therefore believes he may not express the emotions accurately in other languages.

Speaking at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa, Pankaj also said that he is willing to work in any language if someone writes a Hindi-speaking character for him.

Asked about working in Hollywood or south film industries, Pankaj said, “While language is not a barrier for me, I prefer Hindi cinema. It's because I am comfortable with Hindi, main uss language ko samajhta hoon, uski bhavnaon ko, nuances ko behtar samajhta hoon (I understand the language better, I understand its emotions and nuances better). Forget Hollywood, I get offers from Telugu and Malayalam filmmakers but I feel I won't be able to do justice to those films because I won't be able to speak the language.” He was seen in a short role in Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction.

Top Iranian Actresses Hengameh Ghaziani & Katayoun Riahi arrested after publicly removing headscarves: Reports

Iran has arrested two prominent actresses who removed their headscarves in public to show support for the ongoing protest movement calling for freedom for women, sparked by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in custody last September.

According to multiple reports citing state media, Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi were detained after being summoned by prosecutors and are accused of collusion and acting against Iran’s authorities.

Ghaziani, an award-winner for 2008’s As Simple as That and 2012’s Days of Life, has been a vocal critic of the crackdown on protesters. She wrote in an Instagram message this weekend, “Maybe this will be my last post. From this moment on, whatever happens to me, know that as always, I am with Iranian people until my last breath.”
