Box office projection: Rs 100 Cr on day 1 for Adipurush

Prabhas’s mythological action epic, Adipurush, based on Ramayan is gearing up for its release on the 16th of June. The promotions are in the final round for the film.

Going by the latest box office projections, the film might be collecting in upwards of Rs 100 crores nett on its opening day worldwide.

The major contributor will obviously be the Telugu states where non-RRR openings are looking likely. The Hindi market is expected to open with Rs 10 crores nett. Other languages will contribute in their capacity.

The Hindi film industry was never the one to roll up its sleeves and tackle issues head on, says veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, asking whether anyone will make a movie on the protesting wrestlers in the national capital.

The 72-year-old actor, a vocal critic of the BJP-led central government and someone who has in the past faced backlash for his comments, said there is nothing new about the Hindi film industry's stance on staying "mum on important issues".

Adipurush Song Ram Siya Ram: Prabhas and Kriti Sanon's love story is one for the ages

Prabhas and Kriti Sanon are the lead actors in the cinematic retelling of the Indian epic Ramayana titled Adipurush, which has been making headlines since the release of the first look several months ago. Now, the makers of the film have released the second song from the album – Ram Siya Ram. The song offers an insight into Raghav and Janaki's exile in the forest, where they are shown to spend several lovely moments, reveling in the wonders of nature. However, as the story goes the two are separated and the song also shows the couple pining for each other. While Janaki is seen shedding tears thinking of Raghav, Raghav prepares for war to rescue his wife. The song also shows Hanuman serving as the messenger between the couple.

Cannes 2023: Anushka Sharma smashes her red carpet debut in white

Finally, Anushka Sharma at Cannes. The Pari actress made her grand debut on the red carpet in a form fitting white sheath with a ruffled bodice in a floral shape. Anushka put her hair up and kept makeup and accessories simple. Anushka, who made her appearance on the last but one day of Cannes, walked the red carpet with fellow L'Oreal ambassadors Eva Longoria and Andie MacDowell. They attended the premiere of The Old Oak, directed by two-time Palme d'Or winner Ken Loach.  

Anushka Sharma succeeds Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari as a L'Oreal face on the Cannes red carpet. Cannes first-timers Sara Ali Khan, Mrunal Thakur, Manushi Chhillar and Esha Gupta have already walked the red carpet as have Vijay Varma and Urvashi Rautela, attending for the second time.

Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy receives 7-min standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival, Rahul Bhat gets emotional

Anurag Kashyap, along with actors Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, are at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for Kennedy. The film was screened at the Midnight Screenings section of the prestigious gala. Now, it has joined the likes of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Johnny Depp’s Jeanne du Barry. Like the other two, Kennedy also received a standing ovation from the audiences who watched it.
