Arshad Warsi says Circuit’s role was ‘bad’, he was sure his ‘career would end’ after Munna Bhai

Actor Arshad Warsi recalled working on the blockbuster film Munna Bhai MBBS, and said that he was sure at the time that it would be the last film of his career. Arshad played the role of Munna Bhai's henchman circuit in the film, and emerged as the breakout character. Not only did his career continue afterwards, it thrived.

But before he signed on, he was sure it would be a death knell for his career. Describing his role as 'bad', he revealed in an interview with Siddharth Kannan that even Makarand Deshpande had turned it down. He did the movie, he said, because he liked director Rajkumar Hirani as a person and a filmmaker.

Actor Arshad Warsi says he hears that he is "underutilised" constantly, and people aren't wrong to believe that. The actor, who has been in the industry for more than three decades, said he does feel he could have done "much more", but also notes that he was in consideration for many films, which ultimately went to other actors.

Warsi started his film journey as an assistant director to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt in his 1987 drama Kaash, moved to choreographing for the title track of Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raja and finally made his acting debut with the 1996 drama Tere Mere Sapne. Warsi established himself as an actor to watch out for with acclaimmed films like Seher but found stardom with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani's 2003 blockbuster Munna Bhai MBBS.

Kerala Film body vehemently condemns raid in film director Najeem Koya's hotel room

The office bearers of FEFKA, the apex body of 19 different film organisations that include drivers to directors, on Thursday expressed their ire for the manner in which Excise officials conducted a raid in the hotel room of director Najeem Koya.
