
New Delhi: Delhi Assembly witnessed unprecedented scenes as former Minister Kapila and about dozen ruling party MLAs got into a bodily duel as the former tried raising the issues of corruption in the government. Mishra was roughed up by party legislators and later dragged out of the Delhi Assembly by marshals on the order of the Speaker Ram NiwasGoel. Mishra later claimed that he was ‘attacked’ on the orders of deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
The assembly convened on Wednesday to discuss the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill but was disrupted when Mishra got up to raise issue of corruption, following which a group of AAP legislators pounced on him.
The incident took place when deputy CM Manish Sisodia was trying to respond to opposition leader Vijender Gupta’s allegations about shortage of medicines in Delhi government hospitals. Kapil Mishra got up and sought a response from the speaker about a special session at RamlilaMaidan to discuss alleged corruption in the AamAadmi Party and the Delhi government.
Former Speaker ChowdharyPrem Singh, who served the house in the capapcity as chief presiding officer for nearly a decade, called the development unfortunate and sad bringing dishonour to the august house.
