Nitish’s schedule meet with PM sets alarm bells ringing in Oppn

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who skipped lunch with Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday, is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at PM’s residence in New Delhi on Saturday.
The JD (U) leader triggered speculations in political circles. While his move implies conciliatory gesture towards the ruling BJP, it has sent a message across to the Opposition that he may not be part of the maha gathbandan (mega alliance) it is planning to float.

However, calling the meeting with the Prime Minister an official engagement, JD (U) spokesperson Ajay Alok said nothing personal will be discussed.
Another JD (U) leader Pawan K Verma clarified that the luncheon given by Sonia Gandhi had been decided that Sharad Yadav would attend the lunch. But, If this meeting does take place, it will be a huge blow for Gandhi and other Opposition leaders who are planning to come together to fight off Narendra Modi and BJP’s surge in India.
