
New Delhi: In Tripura, the newly elected MLAs of BJP and its ally IPFT will meet in Agartalaon Tuesdayto elect their legislature party leader.After a historic victory in Tripura Assembly elections, BJP has appointed Union Ministers - NitinGadkari and JualOram - as Central Observers to help facilitate the election of legislature party leader in the state.
BJP sources said its two central ministers NitinGadkari and JualOram will hold the meeting soon with the newly elected legislators of the party and its ally IPFT to finalize the name of Chief Minister of the new government.
After meeting with elected and core committee members, they will submit their report to the BJP parliamentary board for the final announcement of the name of Chief Minister. Party sources said there are few candidates which are on the frontline for the Chief Ministerial post.
Top of the list is BJP State President Biplab Kumar Deb, followed by Kumar JishnuDebbarman, DrAtulDebbarma and RamapadaJamatia. This time, BJP-IPFT alliance has won 17 seats out of 19 ST reserved seats. Nishith Joshi/ AIR News/ Agartala."
Meanwhile, Governor TathagataRoy, yesterday accepted the resignation of ManikSarkar as Chief Minister of Tripura and asked him to continue as caretaker CM till a new government is formed.
