Rs 1000-crore Development Projects For Daman & Diu Inaugurated By Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi on Saturday inaugurated various developmental projects worth 1000 crore rupees in Union territory of Daman and Diu. 

He launched the helicopter service between Daman and Diu. MrModi also launched Air Odisha flight service connecting Ahmedabad with Diu under UDAN Scheme.

Addressing a public meet in Daman, Prime Minister said, the helicopter service and air connectivity under UDAN have brought Daman and Diu in the mainstream of development. He said, the connectivity will boost tourism in the union territory. 

MrModi urged the people of Daman to continue giving topmost importance to cleanliness. He said, the opportunities in tourism increase when there is cleanliness. 

The Prime Minister said, his Government is taking several steps for the welfare of fishermen. He said, the government's entire emphasis on the blue revolution is inspired by the commitment to bring a positive difference in the lives of fishermen.

Earlier, MrModi also laid the foundation stones for various local developmental projects in Daman and Diu. 

The prime minister also distributed e-rickshaws to women and scooters to differently-abled beneficiaries. He expressed happiness over the mass movements in Daman towards cleanliness, using e-rickshaws and CNG.

The daily local passenger helicopter service between Daman and Diu has been started by Pawan Hans in coordination with local administration. The helicopter service will cut down the distance between Daman and Diu to 1 hour 10 minutes. 

The helicopter will have 8 passenger capacity. Besides, the service will also include joy rides for Daman City on weekends.
