
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister SushmaSwaraj on Thursday eveningarrived in Katmandu on two day visit to Nepal. Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale and other senior officials are accompanying her.
Swaraj was received at the airport by Nepal's Minister of State for Finance UdayaShumsherRana, Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri and other senior officials of Embassy of India.
During her stay at Kathmandu Swaraj will hold discussions with leaders of various political parties on issues of mutual interest and to enhance long-standing special ties of friendship between India and Nepal.
Later in the evening, Swaraj is scheduled to hold talk with CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli who is likely to be the new Prime Minister of Nepal. She will also meet senior leaders of RashtriyaJanata Party Nepal.
The External Affairs Minister will hold discussions with CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Pushpa Kamal DahalPrachanda over breakfast on Friday. She will also meet Prime Minister SherBahadurDeuba and call on President Vidya Devi Bhandari before returning to New Delhi.
The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level political exchanges between India and Nepal. It is expected to expand and further strengthen bilateral partnership across diverse sectors.
