Rahul Gandhi Says 'Gujarat Model' Is Actually 'Narendra Modi Marketing Model'

New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has mocked Prime Minister NarendraModi's 'Gujarat model,' calling it 'NarendraModi marketing model' instead.

"Using power of women in Gujarat, small and medium businesses and utilising power of youth after educating them, is real 'Gujarat model.' What has been in effect since last 22 years is not 'Gujarat model' but 'NarendraModi marketing model' and now 'Vijay Rupani model',"  Rahul said at an event in Gujarat.

This is not the first time the Congress has questioned the state's model of development.

A few days ago, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram rejected the 'Gujarat model,' alleging that the state had actually regressed after the BJP came to power 22 years ago.

The former finance minister questioned the inclusiveness of the state's economic development initiatives.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier this month expressed doubt about development in Gujarat under the saffron party.

The back-and-forth between the two parties has only become more contentious with the imminent elections in the state.

Gujarat goes to vote in two phases, on December 9 and 14, respectively. Counting of votes will take place on December 18.
