Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'andolanjivi' remark for farmers protesting at Delhi borders, Aam Adami Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday termed him as 'bhashanjivi'.

Addressing party workers at the AAP office in New Delhi, Sanjay Singh lashed out at PM Modi and accused him of disrespecting Indian freedom fighters, including Mahatma Gandhi.

"PM Modi has made fun of all the revolutionaries of India who had liberated this country by agitating against the British. PM Modi has mocked the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and millions of farmers who have been agitating for the last 80 days," Sanjay Singh said.

"I want to say to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the 'andolanjivis' have liberated this country. And today because of the 'andolanjivis', you and I have got the right to speak in Parliament. The agitators have given the Constitution to the country and struggled on the streets against the arrogance of power," Sanjay Singh said.

Expressing his displeasure over the use of the word 'andolanjivi', AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that "the prime minister should not use such a word while keeping the dignity of the post". When Emergency was imposed in the country in 1975, many BJP leaders had been in jail for years for agitating, he said.

Taking a dig at the prime minister's 'andolanjivi' remark, Sanjay Singh said that "when you are not in power, you are 'andolanjivi' but when you come to power you become 'bhashanjivi' or 'jumlajivi'.

"The people you call 'andolanjivis' have kept the soul of the nation alive," he said.
