
New Delhi:Eid UlFitr, which marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan, is being celebrated across the country on Monday. Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid in Delhi, Dr Mufti Mohammed Mukkaram said Eid moon was sighted on Sunday evening therefore, Eid will be celebrated on Monday.
President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on Eid-ul-Fitr. In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee has said, may this joyous occasion bring happiness, peace and prosperity and be an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to serve humanity.Vice President Hamid Ansari, in his message said, Id-ul-Fitr signifies the traditional expression of brotherhood and understanding between people.
Earlier on Sunday, in his Mann Ki Baat Programme on All India Radio, Prime Minister NarendraModi also extended his heartiest Eid greetings to all countrymen.
