
New Delhi:Madhya Pradesh government has suspended senior official Swatantra Kumar Singh for failing to contain farmer's riot in Mansaur district. Singh was district collector when the riots broke out. Along with him then superintendent of police O P Tripathi and city superintendent of police Krishna SaiThote have also been suspended.
According to an official release, prima facie it appaers that these officials could not control the situation during farmers' agitation, in which five farmers were killed in police firing on June 6.
Curfew was imposed to control the situation. Earlier the state government had shifted collector Swatantra Kumar Singh, SP O P TRIPATHI and CSP Krishna SaiThota. A judicial commission has been set up to probe the Mandsour violence. In a major development the state government has changed collectors of 18 districts including Bhopal and Indore.
