Digital India made 82 lakh people digitally literate: Prasad

Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today that 82 lakh people have been made digitally literate under the Digital India initiative. 

Addressing media on the achievements of his Ministry in the last three years of the Narendra Modi Government, the minister said IT industry has done a great job in empowering Indians. He said the current investment in electronics is now one lakh 43 thousand crore rupees. 

Prasad said 72 mobile manufacturing firms and 30 battery and charger manufacturing firms have been established. He expressed pride that Digital India is creating new paradigm of development. The Minister said highest ever income has been generated by IT sector in 2015-16.Mr Prasad also stated that Aadhaar is safe, secure and protects people's privacy.
