15 found guilty of diverting public funds to terror activities in Assam

A special court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) today convicted all the 15 accused in connection with the two cases registered with the premier agency relating to diversion of public funds towards terror activities. 
The Court held 13 accused in the first case and two in the second case guilty of charges framed against them. 

The quantum of punishment will be pronounced tomorrow. Those convicted includes former militant leaders Jewel Garlosa and Niranjan Hojai, who were found guilty under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act.
The case was first registered with Basistha police station in Guwahati in 2009 following the recovery of Rs 1 crore along with two pistols. Later, the Centre handed over the case to the NIA.
